What is SPAM?
SPAM is unsolicited commercial electronic messages.
The SPAM act – what does it say?
- An electronic message can only be sent to an addressee when the person has consented to receiving it. This consent can be express or inferred.
- Commercial Electronic messages must contain accurate information about the sender of the message
- Commercial electronic messages must contain a functional way for the message’s recipients to indicate that they do not wish to receive such messages in the future – that they wish to unsubscribe
To comply with the SPAM Act of 2003 BRS has instituted the following measures.
- When you subscribe/register with the BRS online shop, you will receive an email requesting you confirm your registration. This is to ensure we have express permission to provide you with electronic updates. If you do not respond to this email within 14 days, or specifically request to be excluded, you will not be added to the subscription list. This ‘Double opt-in process’ is to protect yourself and BRS from having others subscribe for you without your consent.
- BRS will ensure that all electronic messages sent to subscribers will clearly identify the sender and the subscription group that it is being sent from/about.
- BRS will ensure that the link to your registration/subscription details will be included in every electronic message sent to ensure that you can easily change/update/remove your subscription details at any time.
- The unsubscribe/update details option with be automatic and take place immediately. There will be no delay.
